About Me

First off, welcome to Honey Brook Tools and Woodworks. Thank you for stopping by my site. Anyone who knows me will tell you I don’t love talking about myself, but since you made the effort to get this far, here goes:

Honey Brook Tools and Woodworks was born in March of 2022 after a career pivot from a decade-plus of teaching in rural Vermont (and a few other less interesting professions along the path as well). My shop is here in a barn we built on the property I share with my wife Joanne.

I work closely with my assistant, Murphy, who, despite sleeping a lot, is consistently my Employee of the Month.

Honey Brook is the realization of a love for working with wood which, like many of us, was sparked by my junior high wood shop teacher, but largely left unfulfilled until later in life.  With the purchase of our 19th century farmhouse I soon found myself buying hand tools for restoration projects around the house.  Soon, I felt the urge to begin creating my own projects from wood and turned to watching YouTube videos of Paul Sellers teaching hand tool woodworking. His instruction truly relit my passion for woodworking.

One of my greatest joys in woodworking is working with well-crafted hand tools. They provide tactile feedback and make me feel more connected to my work. Over the years, I’ve collected a variety of vintage turnscrews and have always been struck by how the handle designs feel good in the hand and delight the eye. For me it’s important that the tools we use not only be highly functional but also be aesthetically pleasing and inspirational.

These are the tools I build for you. My ultimate goal is to help you realize your creative vision, and enjoy the process along the way.

All of my tools are unconditionally guaranteed to live up to these ideals. If they don’t, you can simply return them at my expense for a replacement or full refund.
