When it comes to laying out dovetails, accuracy is critical.  A sharp pencil might get you close.  However, you can greatly improve your accuracy by using a dovetail knife designed for scribing lines in tight spaces. The Honey Brook Dovetail Knife does just that.

The Honey Brook Dovetail knife features:

  1. A beautifully hand-turned handle in the domestic or exotic hardwood of your choice
  2. My knife blades are custom made by Hock Tools.  The dual bevel blades are expertly crafted from O1 tool steel which takes and holds a superior edge and is exceptionally durable. The Honey Brook Tools and Woodworks maker's mark is laser-etched on the blade for a clean and elegant look.
  3. Traditional hand-mixed shellac followed by shop made wax.

I stand behind every tool that leaves my shop and comes with a simple, unconditional guarantee. If you're not completely satisfied, contact me for a replacement or full refund. Please note that this knife differs from the marking knife, which has a wider blade intended for more general marking tasks.

The Honey Brook Dovetail Knife is a tool that will last a lifetime, and you'll be proud to pass it on to the next generation of artisans in your family!

Dovetail knife was all I hoped for

I received the maple dovetail knife in a timely manner but was only recently able to use it. I wish I hadn't waited so long to buy one. It's a fine tool, looks good and performs perfectly. It was lighter in weight than I expected and extra "heft" might have felt nice but it doesn't affect the performance at all.

Hi David-
I apologize for my delayed response to your review here. I'm glad you're happy with your dovetail knife. My dovetail knives made with domestic woods do tend be lighter than exotics. After using the knife for a while, if you feel like you'd be happier with something with a bit more heft, please don't hestitate to email me at Will@HoneyBrookTools.com and I'll arrange an exchange. All of my tools are unconditionally guaranteed and I'm happy to make an exchange if you'd like!

Thanks again for your business!
Will

Beautiful, well-crafted, essential tools

The dovetail knife is one of my most used tools for woodworking to do layouts, joinery, and marking out for hardware. The selection of tools I've received from Honeybrook Tools are stunning to look at, comfortable to hold, and will touch practically everything I make! If you're on the fence about purchasing one, let this push you to go ahead and place your order.

Comfortable and Holds an Edge!

I am a big fan of Honey Brook! I have 6 of Will's tools now and will be ordering more!
The marking knives are super comfortable and hold an edge really well. I have had mine I think over a year now and still haven't needed to sharpen them! The finish is also holding up really well! Thank you Will!!

Wow, just wow

This is a tool everyone should have in their kit. It fits nicely in my hand and it light weight. Scores the wood cleanly. Of the 10-15 other marking tools I have used, this one is the clear winner by a landslide. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! Great project and even greater craftsmanship - thanks Will!
