Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question that isn't addressed here, please don't hesitate to contact me through the contact form below.
How soon should I expect to receive my order? The vast majority of my tools are made to order and as of May of 2025 my lead time is four weeks. This means you can expect your order to be completed and shipped within four weeks of my receipt of your order. Once I have packed your order and created a mailing label you will receive an automated email through my website with a tracking number.
How do your calculate your lead time? As a one-man shop, I do everything that happens within the shop, from ordering and managing materials and supplies, to making and finishing your tools, and then packing and shipping your order. My lead time varies based on my current work load. I strive to get your order to you as soon as possible but I am dedicated to making the very best tools I can so I don't cut corners on quality.
If a tool is listed as "in stock" does that mean it will ship right away? Yes! While many of my tools are made to order, due to increased demand I have started keeping some of my most popular tools in stock. If a tool is listed as “in stock” it will ship within five (5) business days of receipt of your order. The only exception to this policy is if an order comes in immediately before or during the infrequent times I’m on holiday. I will post notice of those times on my home page as they occur.
What happens if I'm unsatisfied with my order once I receive it? All of my tools are unconditionally guaranteed. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your order, simply contact me within seven business days of receiving your order and I will arrange for either a replacement at no cost to you or a full refund of your purchase price and shipping.
Do you accept commissions? Yes, I do! If you're interested in having a commissioned tool or set made, simply contact me through the contact form below and we can get started on whatever you have in mind!
Are there any woods you don't work with? Unfortunately, yes. To my great disappointment I have developed allergic sensitivities to all genuine rosewoods, that is, woods in the dalbergia genus. This includes Brazilian rosewood, East Indian rosewood, cocobolo, African Blackwood. While they are among my favorite woods, they are classified as allergic sensitizers meaning once you've developed an allergic sensitivity, reactions to those specific woods become more pronounced with additional exposure and the chances of developing allergic sensitivities to other woods increase.
