The Honey Brook Sliding Bevel Gauge is modeled after the classic design common among early New England toolmakers. An important layout tool to a well-stocked woodworker's kit, the sliding bevel gauge can serve a variety of functions such as dovetail layout, transfer of irregular angles within a particular project, and as a guide for drilling at an angle in, for example, chair making.

The Honey Brook Sliding Bevel Gauge features:

  1. Custom brass thumbscrews made in the style of those found on early New England made sliding bevels. I make each thumbscrew on my metal lathe and manual milling machine.
  2. The rear brass fitting at the tip of the handle is tapped to receive the thumbscrew.
  3. A handle made in your choice from a variety of domestic and exotic hardwoods.
  4. Highly polished brass fittings to complement the wood of your choice
  5. A 9" polished steel bevel blade.

Like all the other tools in my inventory, I make each of these bevel gauges myself. After inspection, I stamp each bevel gauge with my maker's mark. The wood on each Honey Brook Bevel Gauge is finished with Glancy's No. 1 Penetrating Oil followed by hand-rubbed shellac. Once the shellac is cured, each bevel gauge receives several coats of my shop made beeswax polish.

This is a tool that you'll enjoy using and be proud to pass down to future generations of makers in your family!

A bevel gauge for the ages.

I received a set of bevel gauges from my wife as a birthday present. To say the tools are beautiful is to sell them short. The fit of the wood and brass is flawless to the touch. The wood is finished to a beautiful sheen that still allows the user to feel the wood under hand, not a glossy plastic feel. They operate smoothly when the thumb screw is loosened and won’t budge when it is tight. I was gifted a set of four bevel gauges one of each wood offered. Each has its own personality and beauty brought by the natural figure and color of each wood. Congratulations Will Adams, these are a simple tool which means there is nowhere to hide from a get it right perspective, you have gotten it so right! Thank you!

Thank you Brian! I appreciate you taking the time to write and hope you enjoy these for many years to come!
